Kasaragod: An alleged fake ticket collector was apprehended by the Southern Railway authorities in an inter-city train on Wednesday December 6.

V P Niyaz (25) from Kannur is the arrested.

He claimed that he was a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) onboard Train no 22609 Mangaluru-Coimbatore Intercity Express.

He had collected fine from the passengers who had no tickets. Railway officials were suspicious about his activities and also the fact that he did not have any identity card or uniform of a TTE.

He was handed over to the Kasaragod police by the authorities. He was produced in court and has been sent to judicial custody.
