Udupi: A team from District Crime Investigation Bureau (DCIB) arrested two persons in connection with an extortion case at Vandse in Kollur, Kundapur taluk on  Saturday June 7.

Acting on a tip-off, the DCIB team arrested Harish Reddy and Vivek Naik while they were travelling  in a car at Bhadrakali Temple Cross at Vandse.

Police on regular patrolling found a car, with a pistol and two bullets, which had no valid documents.

Besides, Reddy and Naik were involved in an extortion case in Kollur two months ago.

Reportedly, they had made an extortion call, to a well-known entrepreneur who later filed a case against them. Allegedly Reddy, Naik and others had demanded Rs. 50 lakh from him.

The duo was handed over to the local Kollur police station for further legal action.

Reddy has been accused in several cases in the district.

The operation was carried under the direction of Dr Boralingaiah M B, SP and assisted by Santosh Kumar, ASP; M B Patil, DySP Kundapur; Praveen Nayak and others.
