Kasargod: Staff of the Excise Department, Manjeshwar, on Saturday February 6, seized silver amounting to Rs 15 lakh that was illegally being transported. In addition, they also recovered Rs 94,000 unaccounted cash. Two persons namely Mahalinga (50) and Jayakumar (21) were detained.

According to sources, the staff while inspecting a KSRTC bus plying from Mangaluru to Kasargod at the Manjeshwar check-post, found a bag containing the valuables hidden under the back seat. The seized items and the accused have been handed over to Manjeshwar police.
