Ex-Agnesians re-unite for ‘Agnesian Day At Home’

Mangaluru: The “Agnesian Day At Home” programme was organized at the St Agnes College on Sunday February 8.

God’s blessings were invoked with a prayer song and a grand welcome accorded to Agnesians to their Alma Mater. A dance was performed by the final year students of the College.

A minute of silence was observed by the gathering for the repose of the soul of Mrs. Nayan Padiyar, an active member of the Executive Committee.

A formal welcome was delivered by Sr. Supriya A.C., Principal of the College and the President of the Association. The Chief Guest of the Day,.Judith Macarenhas was welcomed with a floral bouquet by the Secretary of the Association, Saramma Jayaraj.   Dr.(Sr) Olivia Saldanha, former Principal of the College, also addressed the gathering.

The Chief Guest Judith Mascarenhas was honored with a “Life-Time Achievement Award” in recognition of her selfless service to the Society. The citation read by Molly Pinto.

In a grateful response, Mascarenhas thanked the Association and said, “The country gives us so much therefore it is our duty as well to return to the society – which can be only done through selfless service”, she stressed.

Sr.Olivia in her message said the fire lit by the Agnesians should burn brightly and shine, while its warmth should spread to the entire society.

The Annual Report was presented by Saramma Jayaraj through a Power Point presentation of the activities of the Association. The statement of accounts were presented by Crystal Rodrigues.

Following these formalities, election of the New Committee took place.Vote of thanks was rendered by Edel Gonsalves.

Carolyn Lobo compered the formal program. The Festivities began with lively dances by Staff, Students and ex-Agnesians. Games were conducted by Daisy Coelho.

The entire show was conducted by Carol Pais Coelho. The program was drew to a close with the members joyfully singing the College Anthem, followed by lunch and camaraderie.
