Udupi:An engineering student  met a watery grave  in a river beneath the Kemtur Hanging bridge near Manipal on October 12, Saturday. The mishap occurred when a group of engineering  students of  Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal were making merry and having a bath in the rivulet.

The deceased is Sukhanand, a second year BE student. According to sources , nine students had come for a picnic of whom three had entered the water. If locals rescued two of them, Sukhanand could not be saved.

The body has been taken to Ajjarkad Hospital for a post-mortem.
