Mangalore : An engineering student met a tragic end due to electrocution  at a private nursing home at Kudroli on September 15, Sunday.

The deceased is  Yajnesh Shetty (21), a second year mechanical engineering student of Sridevi Engineering College, Kenjaru.

The mishap took place when Yajnesh had been to Ullal Nursing Home to meet a friend who was  hospitalized. It is learnt his hand came into contact with a hi-tension wire  when he  threw a chocolate wrapper from the window.

He hailed from  Mumbai. Vasanth Kumar, a relative of Yajnesh has lodged a complaint with the Barke police against the MESCOM for drawing hi-tension wires at close proximity to buildings in the area.

The Sridevi College was closed  on Monday in respect of the departed student.
