Elephant attack death: Kin gets Rs 5 lakh compensation

Sullia: Ganesh’s family members were given a compensation of Rs 5 lakh by the Karnataka forest department during a simple ceremony in Sullia. State forest minister B Ramanath Rai presented the cheque to deceased’s family.

It may be recalled that when Ganesh was riding his motorcycle along with one more person in Bisile ghat region, a wild elephant attacked them suddenly. Ganesh died in the attack, where as the other person managed to escape. The state forest department acted in quick time giving compensation to the aggrieved family members of the deceased.

Deputy Conservator of Forests Jagannath, Range Forest officer Prashanath Pai, Block Congress President M Venkappa Gowda and others were present during the compensation distribution ceremony.
