Bantwal: An accident between a lorry and a bike near Annalike at Bantwal claimed the life of a bike rider on Wednesday January 22. The accident took place at around 9.15 am.

The deceased has been identified as 62-year-old Padmanabha Acharya. His bike (KA20J-9927) bumped into a Tamil Nadu bound lorry (TL37J-2430).

According to eyewitnesses,  Padmanabha Acharya was riding his bike on the wrong side of the road when a lorry plying from the opposite direction rammed into his bike from the rear end.

Acharya who sustained serious injuries died on the spot. The body has been shifted to Bantwal government hospital.

The son of the deceased Acharya has lodged a complaint with Bantwal police who are investigating the case.
