Mangalore: An elderly couple was found dead at their house at Karavali bypass in Udupi on Wednesday March 19.

The deceased have been identified as 74-year-old Sanjeeva Kotian and his wife 65-year-old Indira. Both were found  dead at the bed room of their house located opposite Rohini petrol pump at Karavali bypass.

It is learnt that the deceased died due to burnt injuries. The police suspect that they might have committed suicide by setting themselves on fire.

Only the couple stayed in the house. Reportedly Sanjeeva would often call up Vasanth, a relative for any kind of help if needed. Likewise on Tuesday March 18 night, he called up Vasanth and asked him to join him for grocery shopping on Wednesday morning.

When Vasanth came to Sanjeeva’s house on Wednesday, he found him and his wife burnt to death in their bedroom.

The couple’s children stay abroad. If their son Vinod resides in Dubai, daughter Rajani is in the US.

DySP Prabhudev Mane, circle inspector Maruti Nayak, SI Madhu and other officials inspected the spot. The forensic team also visited the spot. Udupi town police have registered a case.
