Belthangady: An elderly couple was found dead at their residence in Kakkinje on Monday January 11.

The deceased have been identified as Varghese (80) and his wife Eliam (72). Prima facie, it is said to be a case of murder and theft. It is suspected that the couple might have been hit to death with sticks.

According to sources, the couple was living by themselves at home.

SP Sharanappa with a team visited the house. Canine squad was also pressed into action.

Further investigation is underway.
