DYFI urges KJ George to drop charges against innocents in Ullal case

Mangalore : The DYFI leaders who met Home Minister KJ George in the city on February 12, Wednesday, have requested him to  drop charges against the innocents arrested in connection with the Ullal unrest. They have also demanded a thorough probe into the cases of murder attempts reported from Suratkal area.

The memorandum submitted by the DYFI said Suratkal which has been peaceful since the past couple of years is once again witnessing tension mainly owing to some untoward incidents reported from Kulai area recently. A cricket betting issue in Kulai a month ago even led to two separate murder attempt cases, they said. The DYFI also pointed out that the police have until now not arrested the accused in the case of murder of Prakash at Suratkal recently.

The DYFI delegation also urged the Home Minister to transfer the Suratkal inspector Nagaraj who, it said had failed in discharging his duties and urged that a sincere officer be appointed in his place.
