Mangalore: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) staged a day long protest in front of DC Office on Monday January 20, urging to withdraw the privatization of Wenlock Hospital and demanding establishment of a District medical college.

Muneer Katipalla, District President of DYFI  hospital lacks the quality of service, despite the fact that the district administration had given the authority to KMC hospital.

Around 17,000 vacancies in the health department and government hospitals are there at present but rather than uplifting the conditions the government has been tiring to privatize these hospitals, he alleged.

The Wenlock hospital was meant for the poor people, who could not afford adequate facilities in the private hospitals, but such kind of decision by the state government will create immense problem for the deprived, added Muneer.

DYFI secretary Dayananda Shetty, city committee President Imthiyaz BK and CPI (M) District Secretariat Member Vasanth Achari were present.
