Mangalore: The   Kulai unit of the DYFI staged a protest at the Vidyanagar Junction at Kulai on March 4, Tuesday   condemning the failure of the Suratkal police in   cracking the Sumathi Prabhu murder case and the Sudarshan murder attempt case reported recently.

The protestors also demanded  a check on criminal activities in the area and urged for the transfer of Suratkal inspector Nataraj  who, they said had failed in discharging his duties effectively. They also demanded that he be replaced by an able officer.

Munir Katipalla, District President of the DYFI who spoke on the occasion said the  failure of the Suratkal police was  evident as the Sumathi Prabhu killers are still at large.

He said peace has become a mirage in Kulai area with the police also not tackling the minor clashes in the communally sensitive area. Even local MLA Moidin Bava has failed to  allay the fears in the minds of the people, he alleged.

Corporators Purushottam Chitrapura, Dayananda Shetty, former excise officer Yogish Attavar, DYFI leaders Prameela K, Santosh Kulai and others were present.
