Mangalore : The conspiracyis under way o protect ACP T R Jagannath who is facing allegations of sexual abuse on ASI Srikala by registering cases in different police stations in the city and silence Srikala who complained to higher police officer, said DYFI district president Muneer Katipalla.
A complaint was registered on the husband of Srikala for alleged misappropriation of funds two years ago that was closed by the police department. No sooner Srikala complained to higher officers of alleged sexual abuse by ACP Jagannat, a fresh case has been registered in Mangalore rural police station on the husband of Srikala in order to derail the investigations. Its a mastermind by the higher police officers to silence the lower staff against the sexual abuse by arresting Srikala, said Muneer.
The city police commissioner stated that a Committee has been formed to investigate the issue. The Committee has police officers equivalent to Jagannat and lower officers. Despite the Committee was formed several days ago, the investigations have not begun. None of them called the complainant Srikala and impartial investigations likely will not happen. The police department is protecting Jagannat in spite of several complaints since he had joined the police force, said Muneer.
The police force has not registered FIR based on the complaint of Srikala and not suspended Jagannat from the service which proves that she will not get justice, added Muneer.
Muneer urged the district-in-charge minister to intervene over the issue in awarding justice to Srikala and take disciplinary action on erring police officials. He also cautioned the womens organizations, and like-minded organizations will stage massive protest seeking justice for Srikala, cautioned Muneer.
The veteran litterateur Sara Abubakker, social activist Vidhya Dinakar, Krishnanand D, SFI state secretary Jeevanraj Kuttar, Nitan Kuttar, B K Imtiyaz and Raghu Yekkar were present at the press meet.
