Mangalore: Tragedy continues to haunt the family of Railway Minister DV Sadananda Gowda. On Tuesday, Savithri Shivaram Gowda (58), the younger sister of union minister breathed her last at a private hospital in the city, after battling with cancer since sometime.

Earlier, D V Sadananda Gowda had lost his elder son, Kaushik Gowda, who was medical student in a road accident a decade ago. Recently, his other son Karthik Gowda was in the news over an  alleged rape.

On Tuesday morning, Union Minister visited the hospital along with his wife Datty Sadananda and son Karthik Gowda. The family left to New Delhi immediately.

The hospital declared Savithri dead in the noon.

A resident of Hoddeti, Perenje in Sullia taluk Savithri was a zilla panchayat member.
