Duo escapes unhurt after car catches fire

Bantwal: A Maruti 800 car caught fire near BA College, National highway no. 75 at Thumbay on Sunday December 29, fortunately the duo travelling in the car have sustained no injuries.

As per reports, the car belonged to Shameer who is a resident of Kunjakal. He was on the drivers seat during the incident and was accompanied by his friend Shareef.

The duo was passing from Farangipete to BC Road when they sensed a burning smell in the car, and immediately stopped the car and got out. When they opened the bonnet, they saw sparks of fire and eventually the whole car caught fire.

It is learnt that the car used by Shameer was on LPG as well as on Petrol, whereas the leakage in fuel is said to be the main reason of the fire.

Fire-fighters rushed to the spot and controlled the situation, Bantwal police inspector Kabbal too arrived at the spot. A case has been registered at Bantwal police station.
