Manjeshwar : A team of Manjeshwar police led by Sub-Inspector P Pramod has arrested two notorious mobile phone thieves on May 8, Thursday. The arrested are Mohammad Rafique(26), a resident of near Kumble Kalattur check post and KG Saju (34) of Iritti.

They have several cases of thefts of mobile and jewellery against them. It is learnt one of them Mohammad Rafique was caught hold of by public and handed over to police when he was trying to sell a stolen high-end mobile in a shop at Kasargod. It is said he had stolen the cell phone at Uppala.
On interrogation it came to light that his accomplice Saju used to steal the mobile phones and then hand it over to him to get it sold off as he (Saju) did not have an ID card. Based on the information, police later arrested Saju.
Investigations have revealed that the two have thus stolen mobile phones worth several lakhs of rupees and have sold them. Police said they were wanted in connection with thefts in Payyanur, Talachery, Kasargod and other places.
It is also learnt that they would enter jewellery stores in the guise of customers and then steal jewellery.
The two arrested are being interrogated further.
