Mangalore : Suratkal police have arrested two persons on the charges of cattle theft on November 27, Wednesday evening. Those arrested are Mohammad Riyaz (22) of Thodar in Moodbidri and Nawaz Sharief (21).
Police said the duo used to steal sheep, cattle and hens which are found on the streets and then sell them to slaughter houses.
Police have also seized two cars and a bike from the arrested. Police are also on the lookout for some other persons who are involved in the illegal act. It is learnt, they used to lead a luxurious life since the past two years and had stolen over 100 sheep in the month of November alone.
Suratkal Inspector MA Natraj, Rajendra, Inspector in Crime Investigation Bureau and other personnel took part in the operation under the guidance of Panambur ACP Ravikumar.
