Mangaluru: While terror continues to be created in the name of beef, Federation of Indian Rationalists’ Association’s Prof Narendra Nayak has said that it is one of the ways to keep nutrition away from Dalit children so that they remain fighting malnutrition.

Addressing a protest rally organised by Dalit Sangharsha Samiti in Mangaluru on Thursday, Prof Nayak said that with the cost of staple food like grains and pulses shooting up every day, the common man is forced to change his food habits and invariably people have to bank on meat for protein.

But, when someone turns to beef, which is a great source of protein at a cheaper cost, the Hindu goons bash them up.

Referring to the recent incident of BJP leader making derogatory remark at BSP Chief Mayawati, he said that it is not something that is confined to Mayawati alone, but it is the mindset towards all the Dalit women.

Meanwhile, DSS State Convener M Devadas addressing the protesters said that the Sangha Parivar, which says that it refers women as gods, resorts to assaulting and abusing them.

“The BJP men attack the Dalits, but it is the same party which exports beef to other countries and makes huge money. These are fake Hindu outfits that want to exploit the Muslims, the Dalits and the women,” he said.

The protesters took out a rally from Ambedkar circle to DC’s office earlier.

AICC member PV Mohan, BSP district president Gopal Muttur, DYFI district secretary Santhosh Bajal, corporator Dayanand Shetty and others were present.
