DSS plea for retrial in Kambalapalli carnage case

Mangalore: The DSS – Karnataka Dalitha Sangharsha Samithi (Ambedkar faction) State Chief Convenor Mavalli Shankar has strongly demanded the State government to re-investigate and start trial on infamous Kambalapalli carnage case.

During the monthly grievance meeting on Sunday September 7, Shankar said that the Kambalapalli carnage case wherein seven Dalits were burnt alive on March 11, 2000 must be probed once again.

Shankar confronted the judgement of the State High Court and said that the case should be re-investigated.

“We had demanded to handover the case to CBI, but the then chief minister S M Krishna and home minister Mallikharjuna Kharge had promised justice through Sessions Court”, he said.

Dalits will organize a huge rally demanding the same, at Bangalore, during the last week of September, if action is not taken, he agitated.

The Dalit leader also welcomed the government’s decision on forming a separate Act for the implementation of Special Unit Project under the single window system.

Several other grievances with regards to the community were also raised during the meeting.
