Bantwal: An ambulance carrying a critically ill patient to a hospital in Mangalore overturned at Budoli near Maani on June 14, Friday evening, injuring three persons of a family including the sick woman.
The mishap took place when a family from Hassan was taking Zubaida Banu (65) to a hospital in Mangalore for higher treatment. Her husband Amir Jaan (69) and daughter Kausar too were injured in the mishap and have been hospitalized.
According to reports, the ambulance driver was driving under the influence of alcohol and was proceeding at great speed despite the request of the family to slow down. The ambulance had two drivers namely Ganesh (28) and Nagaraj (23) from Hassan. Both, it is learnt, had consumed liquor at Gundia resulting in the tragedy. They have been handed over to Vittal police by the public.
