Mangaluru: Tension is prevailing in the Ullala police station, after a school bus driver attempted to rape a four-year old child in Thokkottu on Friday evening. 

As soon as the news spread, several persons belonging to Hindu and Muslim communities assembled in front of Ullal police station. It’s learnt that the victim reportedly belongs to a minority community and the accused is Madhurkar Shetty, resident of Kumpala.

It’s learnt that the driver attempted to rape the child, when no one was in the bus. The incident took place, while he was dropping her back from school.

Ullala is a communally sensitive place, which witnessed several such incidents. 

The police have booked a case under POSCO Act. Investigation is on.
