Mangaluru: After the Shri Rajarajeshwari Temple in RR Nagar, Bengaluru introduced a dress code for the devotees on the notice board, rumors spread across the city through social media that the Shri Polali Rajarajeshwari Temple in Polali, Bantwal has introduced a dress code in the temple.
The notice board in the picture that went viral, clearly spells out the dress code to be followed by the devotees. According to the notice board, men should wear pants or a dothi along with a shalya or shirt and women should wear a sari or salwar suit along with the dupatta.
The notice also clearly states that short-skirts, bermudas, low waist jeans, middies and t-shirts are strictly not allowed within the temple premises.
A local from Polali Janardhan Ammunje, speaking to Newskarnataka said that the temple has not introduced the dress code. “The Shri Rajarajeshwari Temple in Bengaluru has introduced this dress and not the temple in Polali,” he clarified.
Many temples in Southern India, have introduced dress codes to avoid devotees wearing ‘inappropriate’ clothing to the temples.
