Mangaluru: A 39-year-old woman from the Uli village of the Bantwal taluk, suffers from acute breast cancer and her family is unable to afford her treatment as they are financially weak.

Roopa works at an Anganwadi near her house. After she was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago, however, she has been unable to report for duty. She has a son aged around 10 years old, who is studying in the fifth standard. While her husband is engaged in agriculture on a small piece of land that he owns, he isn’t able to fetch enough income to meet their ordinary needs and her medical expenses.

A couple of months ago, Roopa underwent a surgery that was paid for by donations from strangers. The Konkani Cultural Organisation (KCO) also extended its helping hand towards the family by donating Rs 25,000.

After the surgery, doctors advised her to take 17 injections, each costing around Rs 25,000. Of the 17, Roopa has been able to take only nine injections. She has stopped taking the injections for now, due to a shortage of money.

She is now reaching out to the public for financial aid, as she has no other source of income to pay for her treatment.

Roopa’s savings bank account details are as follows:
