Chennai: When the country is criticizing the traffic police for levying heavy fines on the civilians under the recently amended Motor Vehicle Act, here’s a traffic cop who has been appreciated for his civic sense and saving a youth from the jaws of death.

In a video that has been posted on Facebook, the traffic police’s presence of mind is evident as he is seen pulling a young cyclist to safety.

The video clearly shows how a young man on a cycle, suddenly and blindly crosses the road while the vehicles move normally. Unbeknownst to the youth crossing the road, a truck is seen approaching the area. Luckily for the cyclist, an alert traffic police officer standing at the same spot, realises that the worst is about to occur and immediately catches the youth by his shirt and pulls him back and out of the truck’s path.

Once the road is clear, the cop allows him to cross to the other side.

The video captured by a CCTV camera has now gone viral on Facebook with a whopping 26,94,115 shares. Many netizens have lauded the cop for his presence of mind.
