Do not play politics over dead body, maintain peace: CM

Belthangady: Reacting on the fatal death of two innocents Deepak Rao and Basheer, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said only those inhumane could commit such crimes and that nobody should play politics over a dead body.

CM after inaugurating several developmental projects here in Belthangady on January 7, said that during the time of communal violence, people along with elected representatives must try to unite people and maintain peace instead of provoking them. “Only those who do not have humanity within them can attempt to murder an innocent in such a brutal manner”, he said.

Interruping the talks, District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai who was accompanying the CM, alleged that the Sangh Parivar was responsible for the murders of Hindus as well in coastal Karnataka.

On the occasion, the CM and other ministers gathered paid condolence to Basheer, a hotelier who breathed his last after a long battle at A J Hospital.

Basheer was attacked by right wing activists on January 3 as a vengeance against the murder of 32-year-old Deepak Rao in Katipalla. Though Basheer was shifted to hospital by two youth Rohith and Shekhar, he passed away here on January 7.

The government has meanwhile, announced a compensation of Rs 10 Lakh to the kin of Basheer.
