Mangaluru: The district administration will be organizing a mega solar credit camp for financing solar rooftops at Town Hall here on February 17, Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim informed.

Addressing a press meet on Friday February 12 at his office, Ibrahim said that this is the first in the series of initiatives planned to encourage citizens to switch to use of renewable energy sources with a special focus on grid-connected solar rooftop systems.

DC Ibrahim said that the meet intends to bring together prospective clients, banks financing the project in Mangaluru, MESCOM and MNRE agencies, MESCOM and agencies approved in dealing in supply/installations of solar rooftop systems.

Ibrahim further said that the banks will be providing provisional sanction letters on the spot to eligible customers. A helpdesk will also be setup by MESCOM to guide citizens on the procedure to be followed for obtaining feasibility certificate, which is a pre-requisite for availing bank loans.

“The district administration intends to convince about 4,000 houses and business establishments to install this facility in the taluk initially,” the DC said.

Based on the success of this camp, further camps will be held in other taluks, he added.
