Mangalore: The new district unit of Missing Child Bureau was inaugurated at DC’s office in the city on Monday February 17.




Addressing the gathering Patil Nagalingana Gowda, president of Juvenile Justice Board said that the children are the wealth of the society and must be nurtured. Problems will not be solved merely by initiating this bureau,he said and added that the society needs to work with togetherness. The objective of the bureau will only be fulfilled when a missing child is searched with humanity and compassion, and not for the sake of it, he asserted.
On the occasion Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim said as per the records, in around 20 districts 3600 children were reported missing in the year 2009, while the number was 6500 in 2010 and 9000 in 2011. Going by the statistics, it can be concluded that one child goes missing every day.
Dr Geevarghese Mar Divannasios, Bishop of Puttur diocese blessed the occasion.
Binu Varghese, State Coordinator of Missing Child Bureau, Asha Nayak, President of Child Welfare Committee, Gertrude Veigas, Assistant Director of DK Women and Child Welfare Department were also present.
