District jail raided by Mysore DIG : Ganja, cell phones found

Mangalore : Two packets of ganja and as many as 17 mobile phones were found hidden in the District Jail premises  during a surprise raid  on the jail by a police team led by Mysore Division DIG (Prisons) Vishwanathaiah on June 17, Monday evening. The raid followed a decision taken at a high level meeting convened by the CM recently.

The police team also found as many as  seven mobile charges and two packs of playing cards in the prison. The DIG (Prisons) who later spoke to media men said the meeting convened by the CM had decided  to undertake raids on jails across the state. He said more such raids would follow in the coming days.

The DIG further said that the ganja and mobile phones were found hidden in the jail, and added that  the police are  not yet sure as to whom it belonged to. He said investigations will be undertaken.
ACPs Kiran and Kavitha, Circle Inspector Ravish Naik, Sub-Inspectors Sharief, Ramakrishna, Nandakumar and Madan Kumar were part of the raiding team.
