Devadiga Sangha distributes scholarships to meritorious students

Mangalore : Scholarships amounting to Rs 6 lakhs were distributed among nearly 500 students on behalf of the Karnataka State Devadiga Sangha and Dubai Devadiga Sangha, at a function held at the Devadiga Samaja Bhavan, Mannagudda on July 21, Sunday.


Dinesh Devadiga Kadri, President of the Karnataka State Devadiga Sangha, presided over the function. Harish Sherigar, entrepreneur and  President of Devadiga Sangha, Dubai, Dr B S Sherigar,former vice-chancellor of Kuvempu University and B G Mohandas were  present as chief guests.

Deekshith who scored 96 per cent in SSLC exams was felicitated and gifted with a laptop by Harish Sherigar. National level athlete Manjunath Devadiga was also honoured.

Harish Sherigar who spoke on the occasion, exhorted the student community to be valuable assets of the nation. He also stated that the Devadiga Sangha would always be there to come to the aid of the needy students of the community.

Dr BS Sherigar, former vice chancellor, in his address, said scholarships would encourage the studies to   fare still better  in academics.

Vaman Maroli, Vice President of the Sangha and others were present on the occasion.
