Deputy Commissioner Mullai Mugilan M P has emphasized that political parties must obtain prior permission for conducting meetings, campaigns, and gatherings related to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
He made these remarks during a meeting with representatives of political parties held at the DC’s office on Monday, March 18, following the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 schedule by the Election Commission of India.
Mugilan stated, “Political parties should submit applications for holding election meetings, rallies, publicity campaigns, and vehicle usage through the single-window system established at the election officer’s office. The Election Commission has introduced the ‘Suvidha App’ for online application submission, and permission can also be obtained through the app. It is essential to provide details of star campaigners and venues in advance.”
He emphasized the importance of adhering to the model code of conduct by all candidates, asserting that strict compliance will ensure transparent, free, and fair elections. Mugilan urged all parties to cooperate in this regard.
The meeting was attended by Zilla Panchayat CEO Dr. Anand, Additional DC Dr. Santhosh Kumar, and representatives from various political parties.
