Delegation from Niddodi meets Union Ministers , urges to drop project

New Delhi : Union Ministers M Veerappa Moily and Oscar Fernandes have assured to do their level best to see to it that the proposed Niddodi thermal power project was dropped.

The assurance came after a delegation of the Mathru Bhoomi Samrakshana Samithi of Niddodi led by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel submitted memorandum to them at  New Delhi on August 22, Thursday, with a request to urge the government to drop the proposed project.

The delegation has also forwarded copies of the memorandum to the Prime Minister, President and Chief Minister of Karnataka.

The memoranda has pointed out that the proposed project if implemented would cause devastating effect on environment but will also destroy large tracts of farm land in the village of Niddodi as well as surrounding villages.

Alphonse D’Souza, President of the Samithi, Kiran Manjanabailu,  Convenor, Members Poovappa Gowda, Sudhaker Suvarna, Jagannath Shetty and  Bhasker Devasya were also in the delegation.
