DC s guidelines to protect sanctity of National Flag on I-Day

Mangalore :  Deputy Commissioner N Prakash has urged individuals, organizations and institutions celebrating the Independence Day to duly honour the National Flag and adhere to the Flag code. The sanctity of the flag should be protected and it should not be offended in any way, the DC has said.

He has also said that as per the Flag code, the National Flag  hoisted after sunrise should be lowered before sunset. He further  warned the public against hoisting torn, soiled  or faded National Flags. Anyone found using  National Flag for any other purpose, would face action, the DC said and added there is no scope to use plastic flags. The flags should not touch the ground while hoisting, he said. No prints of the National Flag could be used on towels, kerchiefs or packing materials, he said.

Public who find anyone offending the national flag can inform the authorities by calling the Toll Free No. 1077, the DC said.
