DC inaugurates Bantwal Press Club

Bantwal : Freedom of Press  is one of the unique features of a democracy. A good society can be built when newspapers work for the welfare of the society while functioning in a free atmosphere, said Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim.

He was speaking after inaugurating the new office of the Bantwal Working Journalists Association as well as a full-fledged Press Club at the old TP office building  at B.C. Road on Sunday July 13. “A journalist  must  educate and enlighten the society on the pros and cons of various issues,” he said.

B Ramanatha Rai, DK District in-charge Minister who was present as a chief guest, said journalists need to function with courage and determination and excel in their field.

PB Harish Rai, President of DK District Working Journalists Association presided over the function. He thanked the Bantwal Taluk Panchayat for providing office space and urged the district administration to provide a site for the Association so that it could construct an independent office in BC.Road.

Rajesh Acharya,  Yadava, Manoj, Engineer Balakrishna, Udaya Rao,  Photographer Kishore Peraje and others who strived in making the new office of the Association a reality were felicitated.

Maunesh Vishwakarma, President of Bantwal Taluk Working Journalists Association, welcomed the gathering. Ratnadev,  General Secretary proposed the vote of thanks. Gopal Anchan, Member, Sandeep Salian, Treasurer, Sooryanarayana Poovala, Vice President and  Chandrashekhar Kalmale, Joint Secretary, compered the programme.
