DC Harsha Gupta urges eligible voters to exercise Franchisee

Mangalore: Deputy Commissioner and district Electioneering Officer urged all the eligible voters to exercise their precious franchisee in the assembly elections on Sunday May 5.

None will be allowed to use mobile phones within the perimeters of 100 meters from polling center.  The polling agent assigned by contesting candidates was strictly advised not to bring mobile phone at the polling center.  All the arrangements were made for the smooth polling in all the centers, while the voters were advised to bring along their any identity cards that are recommended by Election Commission and enter the polling center after presenting their identity cards to the concerned polling officers, said DC Harsha.

The voter’s serial number if known in advance by the voters will help the polling officer and facilitate faster turnout.  Therefore, it’s essential for the voters to know their serial numbers.  The voters slip issued by Election Commission has this info and it can be used as identity card like others advised by Election Commission.

In case voters slip is lost or not obtained from BLO, it can be obtained from BLO at the entrance of polling center on polling day.  The voters can cast their votes by producing their identity cards even without obtaining voters slip.  It’s essential that voters name should be found it the voters list.  In spite of voter has his / her identity card and if their names are not found in the voters list, they will not be allowed to cast their votes.

The voters has to be first identified by the polling officer and proceed to another officer who will apply permanent ink on the wedding finger and secure a slip that has serial number of voter and sign on register 17 A.  Then the voter has to hand over the serial number slip to third polling officer who will put on control unit and proceed to the compartment to cast their vote by pressing the button against preferred candidate.
