Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner failed to convince the Netravati Rakshana Samyukta Vedike members to withdraw their call for DK bandh.

In a meeting held by Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim at DC office on Tuesday evening, the DC said that calling for a bandh is not a solution to fix the problem.
“People may face a lot of difficulties because of bandh. If you people agreed to withdraw your call for bandh then I will definitely try to fix a meeting with Chief Minister within a month,” said DC Ibrahim addressing the protesters.
He further said that, this plan is not implemented over night while four CMs have looked into the matter so far.
In reply, President of Vedike Vijay Kumar Shetty said that, all the four CM’s also failed to implement the plan properly. Till now Rs 13000 crore have been spent for this, but the plan is not implemented properly.
“In Paramashivayaiah report it is clearly mentioned that Netravati water is not enough for Kolar and Chikkaballapur and the project is not suitable to supply water to these districts. Even CM Siddaramaiah also doesn’t know the pros and cons’ of this project,” he said.
He further added that, some miscreants may try to disturb the peace during bandh, so the district administration should take care of this.
City Police Commissioner Chandrasekhar said that, the ones leading the protest will be held responsible for the violent activities.
He further stressed that, as the DC has promised, he will fix a meeting with CM if the protesters are ready for negotiation.
ADC Kumar, Vedike members and others were present.
