DC distributes govt pension eligibility certificates to Endosulfan victims

Mangalore: With the initiative of working towards the welfare of the Endosulfan victims, Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim distributed government pension eligibility certificates to Endosulfan victims at Manchi Lions Club Hall in Bantwal taluk on Thursday February 27.

The Deputy Commissioner informed on the occasion that around 1,815 Endosulfan victims in the district will be eligible to avail pension according to the research conducted by the authorities.Moreover, he said a proposal to the government seeking extension of Anna Bhagya scheme to the Endosulfan victims.

The High Court has already  directed to give a monthly pension of Rs 3,000 to Endosulfan victims having 60 percent and above disability and Rs 1,500 for those falling under the second category of 25 to 60 percent disability.

However, the district administration will offer Rs 3,000 per month to those who have 60 percent disability and Rs 2,000 to those with 40 – 60 percent disability, with effect from January 1.

The pension eligibility certificate distribution process has started and the amount will be deposited to the accounts of the beneficiaries from Friday, he added.
