Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada District Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh has urged the fishermen to follow social distance while engaging in fishing actvities and fish selling.
The ban on fishing activities, which was in place in wake of the lockdown has been lifted on Sunday and with this, a meeting was convened at DC office on Sunday, which was attended by fishermen community leaders.
During the meeting, a total of 11 places were identified for fish selling and they are Baikampady, Gudde Kopla, Mukka, Sasihithlu, Sultan Battery, Hoige Bazar, Ullal Kody, Kotepura, Mogaveerapatna, Ullal and Someshwar.
The traditional fishermen are not allowed to sell the catch in any other location, the DC said.
“At the designated area of fish vending, fishermen should ensure that everyone maintains social distancing,” Deputy Commissioner stressed.
