Mangalore: Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim has assured that autorickshaw fares would be revised in a manner which is acceptable to both the public as well as the autorickshaw drivers.
Addressing an RTA meeting at the Court Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Tuesday January 7, he also indicated that the fare will be decided within a week.

Taking into view several of the problems faced by the auto rickshaw drivers, the DC said that the parking issues and other prominent problems of the rickshaw drivers will be addressed. At the same time, he urged the rickshaw drivers to be courteous with the passengers.
Autorickshaw drivers union leaders Ivan D’Souza and Ali Hassan along with LT Suvarna, Vishnmurthi and others urged the RTO to increase the minimum autorickshaw fare to Rs 30 and Rs 20 for every next km travelled. Autorickshaw drivers’ union members voiced their dissent when social activist Hanumanth Kamath pointed out that it will be unfair to hike the minimum fare.
Things however came under control after the DC warned that he will have to cancel the meet if the participants created chaos.
