Mangaluru: With the elections nearing, the BJP SC Morcha alleged that the candidates and their supporters are visiting Dalit colonies to spread wrong information about the BJP and the Central government. They are offering developmental projects and support to the Dalits along with other freebies and are accusing the Central Government of being anti-Dalits, said Dinesh Amtoor, District President, BJP SC Morcha, addressing a press meet at the Atal Seva Kendra here on May 10th.

He opined that the statement made by Skill Development State Minister Ananth Kumar Hegde about changing the constitution is being given a different color. His intention was in the interest of all under PM’s ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ programme. But, the Congress is using it to convince people that the BJP is trying to change the Constitution given to us by Dr. B R Ambedkar and they are insulting our leader, thus putting the BJP in a bad light.

“The constitution has been amended 122 times in the past. There were no issues then. Now, a statement made with good intention is being used as an election agenda to woo the Dalit voters,” he countered.

Dalits were exploited as vote banks by offering them money and liquor. This is how the Congress was wining elections. But, now the Dalits have understood the game plan will not be influenced by the Congress’ old fashion vote politics, he said adding that the Dalits have decided to keep up their self esteem and vote for the party which does development and reject the party which only talks about development during elections. He said that the Dalits are being neglected when it comes to the distribution of state government schemes in a bid to appease the minorities. No proper housing facilities have been provided to the Dalits during their five year rule but, as soon as the elections were nearing, they hurriedly distributed RTCs with improper details to gain votes.

BJP SC Morcha’s State General Secretary B S Vasanth Kumar, District General Secretary Vinaynethra and Mangaluru South President Umanath Amin were present.

Congress supporters join BJP in the presence of UP minister

Arround 50 Congress supporters from the Bajjodi and Adu Maroli areas in the Mangaluru South Constituency joined the BJP in the presence of UP minister for Rural Development, Mahendra Kumar Singh. They were welcomed to the party by BJP leaders Nagaraj Shetty and Santhosh Kumar at the BJP Mangaluru South campaign office.

Nagaraj Shetty expressed his happiness about getting more youth to the party and said that the youth will be the decision makers this election and they have the support of all the youth. “We will win all 8 seats in the district with this support,” he said.
