Public campaigning for polls ends today

Bengaluru: Public campaigning for the Assembly elections which will be held on May 12 will end today at 5 pm. As per the rules, during this period political leaders should not leave their constituencies and candidates may visit houses and request for votes.

Prohibitory order from today:

As a precautionary measure for the upcoming elections, in all Assembly constituencies of Bengaluru Commissionarate limit, the prohibitory order will be imposed from May 10 (today) 6 pm to 6 pm on May 13, Police Commissioner T Sunil Kumar said.

During this time, any organizations, political parties, religious groups can not conduct any procession or protest. There will not be any transportation of weapons, scythes, knife, gun or any ammunition, he said.

In the last 48 hours before the election, political party workers, not more than 10 members can visit houses for the campaign. The exception is given those who participate in final rituals, marriage, religious rituals, those who go to temples, masjids and churches, any other programmes with prior permission, the commissioner said.
