Dalit leader stabbed near Yeyyady

Mangalore:Noted Dalit leader Ashok Konchady was allegedly stabbed  by a group of assailants near Yeyyady on October 25, Friday night.

As per the complaint lodged by Ashok who is admitted to Wenlock Hospital, a group of around 15 persons waylaid his bike and attacked him when he along with his wife and child were on way from Konchady to Padavinangady Perlagudy where his wife’s house was located.

Ashok said prior to this incident,he was attacked while alighting from a bus at Konchady. Though a complaint was lodged with Kavoor police station, he was once again attacked in the night, Ashok said.

He has named the accused as Krishnappa Konchady, Vasudev, Ashok, Chinnu, Panduranga Thimmayya and Govinda.It is learnt, he was targeted using knife and wooden logs.

Ashok says his fight for the development of roads leading to Dalit colony  in Konchady area was the reason for the attack. He also reveals tht he has been attacked thrice on earlier occasions.
