Cricket betting: Two more persons arrested

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru police arrested two more persons for their alleged indulgence in cricket betting and seized Rs 3.96 Lakh from their possession on Saturday, March 30.

The arrested duo is Lakshath alias Manish of Jeppinamogaru and Nithin Kumar of Bejai. With this, the total number of persons nabbed in connection with the case in the last two days rises to four. Yesterday also, police had arrested two persons namely Bharathesh S Srian, a resident of Kulai and Mahanthesh Amin of Kadri, for cricket betting. Based on the clues given by these two, police succeeded in nabbing the bookies Lakshith and Nithin.

Sources from police informed that as a one-day cricket match is being held between Pakistan and Australia in Abu Dhabi, the accused bookies had been collecting money at Meenakaliya in Panambur police station limits, through two mobile apps ‘Brizze Sport’ and ‘Delight.’

A case has been registered at Panambur police station in this regard.
