CPI(M) stages protest against Pankti Bheda

Mangalore : The DK District Committee of the CPI(M) staged a dharna in front of the DC office here on Monday May 5 opposing the Pankti Bheda  practice in Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt. The party  has also demanded  immediate  steps to ban the practice.

The protestors  condemned the caste based discrimination in temples in the name of Pankti Bheda. Referring to the recent incident wherein a Bunt community woman who was seated on the Brahmin’s row, was asked to walk out of the dining hall for being a non-Brahmin,  they described the act as inhuman and urged for steps to stop such practice.

KR Sriyan, Vasanth Achari, CPI(M) leaders and others participated in the agitation.
