Puttur : The Second Additional District Sessions Court has convicted one Ramesh Naik, a bank manager in a case of murder of his own two children. The court is to pronounce the quantum of punishment to the convict on December 2.
The Tumkur Sessions Court has already sentenced Naik to life imprisonment in the case of killing his sister in law Savitha and mother-in-law Saraswathi and then dumping their bodies in the water tank on October 15,2010. The Additional District Court of Mangalore announced the verdict in the case of murder of his two children at Puttur.
The accused had taken his two children who stayed with his wife Sundari in Mangalore and had pushed them to a lake at Ardha Moole in Panaje village of Putur taluk. After the murder, he had stayed in a lodge in the town.
The accused had later sent an SMS to his wife Sundari, an SBI employee saying ‘ No one should search for me Bhuvan, Kritika, Savitha and Saraswathi who are in heaven. I wanted to take you too. But I could not. You find a well with water and jump into it.”
He had then sent another message saying “ No one should find our bodies. We do not have a land of our own for cremation and none to perform Uttarakriya. Recently several died in an air crash in Mangalore. Let us also think that we were in that aircraft.” After sending the message, Ramesh was in his lodge room and planned to commit suicide. However, he was caught well before that by the police. His SMS proved a prominent evidence in the case.
