Moodbidri: A couple has been arrested on Monday September 22, and charged with the  killing of their neighbor at Daregudde Vittala Gudde.

The deceased has been identified as Raghu Bhandary (63), who was found dead in unknown circumstances on September 12, allegedly killed by Maurice D’ Costa (58) and his wife Carmine D’Costa (50).

The police have arrested them and produced them in the local court which remanded them to judicial custody for 15 days.

Accordingly to the reports, the couple and Raghu Bhandary regularly fought over petty issues. It is also learnt that the couple owned a farm and wild animals would enter in the night. To avoid the same the couple made noise by beating on a tin box to drive away the animals, that made Raghu irate and they fought more.

On the fateful day when Maurice banged on the tin again, it led to an argument between Raghu and the couple. Maurice in a rage allegedly hit his head with much force that caused his death. Frightened,  at the outcome, they reportedly threw the body in a canal near his house.

The body was found by the victim’s family the next morning. As there were marks of injury on the head and the body, they suspected foul play.

The police registered a complaint and during the interrogation Maurice and his wife confessed to the crime.
