Mangalore : A couple from Mysore who cheated 30 city based photographers by promising jobs in America has been arrested by Pandeshwar police here on June 19. The arrested are identified as Haricharan Rao and Rachana from Mysore.




Arvind, a city based photographer had filed case against the couple for defrauding him of Rs 12 lac.
The couple told these photographers that a US based company, has vacancies for the post of photographers in their project called ‘Colourworld’. They also made them believe that a chief photographer would get upto Rs 4.5 lac salary, and assistant photographer would get Rs 2.5 lac. The couple had met Arvind and other city photographers nine months ago and promised them jobs.
A sum of Rs 30,000 each was collected from those who applied for Assistant photographer post as deposit, and Rs 75,000 was collected from those who applied for the higher post. A total 12 lakh was collected from them.
They also promised them free visas and repaying the money before leaving to America. The victims had transferred money to the SBI account of the couple. After a few months they could not contact the couple so they filed case in second JMFC court and asked the police to arrest them before July 20.
Reports say that the couple are also accused of a fake currency case in Mysore and abducting a minor girl. Bangalore’s Taj West End hotel had filed case against them for not paying a bill of Rs 2.5 lac.
