Corrupt FDA finds ACB officials at his door before dawn

Belthangady: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials raided the residence of Belthangady taluk office First Division Assistant at Kuvettu village during wee hours of December 21 and confiscated huge amount of unaccounted wealth including gold, property documents and cash.

The raid conducted by a team of ACB police officials was led by Mangaluru Deputy Superintendent of Police (ACB), Chennabasavanna based on the repeated complaints from public against FDA Govind Naik. In the morning raid at his residence, ACB police team confiscated a kg of gold, many fixed deposit certificates and currency (both spiked and new) valued over Rs 6 lakhs.

FDA Govind Naik was earlier employed in Vittal and was later moved to Belthangady. He was suspended for six months on corruption charges on an earlier occasion and was reinstated after six months. In most cases public had accused him of not passing files including those of poor without taking bribe.

His wife is serving as health assistant in a government primary health care at Punjalakatte.

During the raid, ACB officials found many office files at his residence.

ACB officials are now trying to extract more details on his assets including bank lockers, deposits in banks and post office accounts and the final details on the total assets will be known only after the complete raid details emerge.
