Bantwal : The investigation into the case of murder of autorickshaw driver Rajesh at Kalpane autorickshaw stand near BC Road on March 21, Friday, has failed to make any headway with the police still clueless regarding the killers.

It is learnt, the assailants had not left any clue at the scene of the crime. Though a scythe was found at the spot, it has been of little help in tracing the assailants. It is suspected that one part of the scythe was broken after it hit the autorickshaw.
The suspicion as of now is that Rajesh was killed in retaliation to the murder of autorickshaw driver Iqbal which was reported on February 21, 2008, as the former was an accused in the case. Iqbal whose auto was hired, was later brutally killed in a rubber field at Amtady.
Two police teams led by the DCIB and Bantal Circle Inspector are probing the Rajesh murder case and are confident of nabbing the killers.
Bundh call withdrawn : Meanwhile, the Vishwa Hindu Parishat taluk unit President Sarapady Ashok Shetty has said that the bundh call given on March 25 to protest against the failure of the cops to nab the killers, has been withdrawn in view of the election code of conduct.
He said the activists will be staging a symbolic protest in front of Bantwal police station on March 25, Tuesday demanding an impartial probe into the case.
