Kasargod: A police team led by DySP TP Ranjith have arrested the mastermind of a murder plot of a contractor, in a perfect cinematic style in the town. The arrested person is Mohammad Azaruddin (24) of Madhur Patla. He was arrested from near a hotel in the outskirts of the town on Tuesday May 27 afternoon.

The police who approached Azharuddin in the guise of supari killers arrested him while he accepted money from them.

It is learnt, Azharuddin had hatched a plan to murder contractor Ashraf of Madhur Patla. The latter had lodged a complaint with the SP of Kasargod on April 9 stating he was facing life threat. The police who acted on the complaint formed a special team and gathered information that Azharuddin was trying to seek help of supari killers.  Taking cue of this, the cops themselves contacted Azharuddin over his mobile phone and introduced themselves as supari killers and placed forth a demand for Rs 10 lakhs to execute the plot. They even demanded Rs 10,000 as advance and when Azharuddin arrived and  handed over the cash to the  policemen in disguise, he was arrested.

Sources said Azharuddin had earlier contacted another rowdy and had backtracked  when the latter had demanded Rs 10 lakhs for murder and Rs 4 lakhs to break his limbs. 

Now that Azharuddin is behind bars, police are on the lookout for Ashraf and Harris in connection with the case.
